John McGrady

Who Was John McGrady?

The late John E. McGrady was a a great civic and political leader. During his tenure as a commissioner he was instrumental in the creation of the Allegheny County Port Authority, the development of area mass transit, the construction of Three Rivers Stadium, and the development of the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC). A Lawrenceville native, John McGrady was also highly involved with the Catholic Youth Association. Members of the McGrady family have served as board members of the Catholic Youth Association for over 40 years. CYA's John E. McGrady Award is annually presented to an individual who has rendered outstanding service to the community.
